Abstract
In this chapter, the question of why there is continued interest in spirituality within healthcare is asked. To provide the answer, the importance of spirituality historically and currently within society and within healthcare is addressed. The key drivers for this continued interest are considered within the existing body of evidence in this field as well as healthcare policy, regulatory and professional bodies.
