Review title
What is the economic evidence for the contribution of the voluntary sector in preventing use of the health and care system?

Preventative intervention; Healthcare costs; Economic Problem

Preventative services in Wales focus on proactive care and support, covering areas among others:

Health Education and Promotion: Encouraging healthier lifestyles through campaigns, community programs, and accessible information.

Early Detection and Screening: Identifying health issues early through regular screenings and assessments.

Support for Independent Living: Providing aids, adaptations, and resources that allow individuals to live independently and safely.

Social and Community Support: Connecting individuals to local support networks, reducing isolation, and promoting social wellbeing.

Lifestyle Interventions: Initiatives like smoking cessation programs, diet and exercise support, and substance misuse prevention.

Rationale for the review
The rapid review has been commissioned by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) to investigate the economic contribution of the voluntary sector towards preventing use of the health and care services in Wales. We will look at the evidence from OECD countries and provide answers for WCVA based on the evidence base.
