Research output: Contribution to conferenceOther

Abstract

This presentation outlines a work in progress action research project undertaken to enhance student engagement in an MSc HRM module. Drawing upon the principles of action research, the study explored the use of video case studies as a pedagogical intervention to address concerns regarding student engagement and the limited use of technology in the classroom.
Grounded in theories of dual coding, constructivism, and progressivism, the project aimed to evaluate video case studies as an option to provide students with a more dynamic and engaging learning experience. The study focused on a cohort of part-time, working professionals enrolled in the "Leading and Managing People" module on the MSc HRM.
The presentation will discuss the challenges encountered in implementing video case studies. It will also share preliminary findings on the impact of video case studies on student engagement, learning outcomes, and critical thinking skills.
This research contributes to the growing body of literature on the effective use of technology in higher education and provides valuable insights for educators seeking to enhance student learning experiences through innovative pedagogical approaches.
