Abstract
perating from its café and workshop in the centre of Inverness since 2015, Velocity’s Cycle to Health project targets people experiencing mild mental health difficulties, social isolation, low mood or anxiety. Funded by the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places (SCSP) Open Fund supported by Transport Scotland, the project looks at ways of using cycling to help people adopt healthier lifestyles, to encourage sustainable travel and to improve emotional well-being. Focus-sing on behaviour change, the fund aims to encourage everyday walking or cycling and sustainable travel methods for longer journeys. Velocity believe the combination of physical activity and the social element of the project have a positive effect on mental health and well-being.
