Abstract

The evidence on contamination of uniform/workwear with pathogenic organisms in the healthcare setting is variable. Recent guidance in the UK states there is no conclusive evidence that workwear poses an infection transmission risk. However, in the studies cited in the report none of the sampling methods have been validated for this purpose and no conclusive evidence is not the same as evidence stating no risk of transmission.
