    Abstract

With the growing importance of student voice being emphasised in the Higher Education sector, this study looks at how an innovative student representative scheme – Student Voice Rep (SVR) at an UK university successfully engaged the student voice. The scheme moved away from the current student representative structure. Student reps are recruited via an interview process rather than an election, and they received extensive training and financial incentives for their role. All future academic-related policy development is likely to benefit from a far greater degree of student consultation than ever achieved in previous years.
