Abstract

My one-woman show Titillation (2010) tells the story of my journey to womanhood and my understanding of femininity. I perform the ways in which being diagnosed with breast cancer shook these conceptions and the attendant changes this caused in my body through treatment, menopause, and radical surgery. I employ my desire for Patrick Swayze, particularly in his portrayal of Johnny Castle in the film Dirty Dancing (1987), and Swayze’s very public cancer story.
