    Abstract

    The implementation of information technologies can cause disruption to the very fabric of the organizations in which they are employed, but they can also underpin initiatives to improve society at large.

    While the eld of information technology is mature, there remain many aspects that still require greater understanding.
    The complex nature of information systems implementation extends beyond mere technical and cost challenges, and nds that inter-organizational cultural aspects are the most pertinent determinants of project success.
    Developing and emerging economies present their own challenges, particularly for small organizations.
