The Learning Profile, A Recipe for Success: Supporting Children with Down's Syndrome in Inclusive Mainstream Education

    Abstract

    This presentation explores an evidence based approach to supporting children with Down's Syndrome in a mainstream primary school environment, drawing from an affirmative stances which perceives the learning profile as a recipe for success rather than deficiency. Research on the proposed learning profile of children with Down's Syndrome will be presented, and case study examples from practice shared. This presentation will draw from multiple perspectives of sibling, teaching assistant, support worker and academic to inform the discussion.
