Abstract

This is the report of a Citizens Jury on the future of specialist stroke rehabilitation services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The report sets out the Jury’s remit, summarises its deliberations, and presents the Verdict and Recommendations. The Jury’s discussions, and the evidence they received, covered a wide range of issues, including aspects affecting the quality of services, access for patients and families, and cost. In their deliberations, they came to prioritise quality issues over service accessibility. In the end, the Jury unanimously supported the creation of one, 45-bed specialist stroke rehabilitation Unit, based on a greenfield site in north Cardiff.
