Talk, Feedback and Technology in EAP

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

    Abstract

The workshop looks at how the roles of talk, feedback and technology have been combined to deliver an effective and popular course of academic writing that has helped hundreds of students since 2006. It will describe how the adoption of a virtual learning environment (VLE) was successfully incorporated into an accredited module of academic writing delivered to international students. Drawing on research into the importance of feedback in the development of writing skills (Boud, 2006, Ellis 2009), an outline of the design and delivery of the course will be presented. Reference will be made to how discussion and debate can positively influence students’ preparation for written composition.
