Abstract

The reactivity of palladium-imidoyl complexes with imines was studied. Investigations showed the formation of a novel dipalladium complex, with one of the palladium centers being η2-coordinated to an imidoyl group. The mechanism of the process was believed to involve a transformation of the η1-imidoyl complex into the η2-imidoyl species, followed by a Pd-C bond cleavage and a dimerization process via formation of new C-C and Pd-N bonds.
