    Abstract

    The recently published Independent Commission into the Future of policing had as its starting discussion points such topics as the challenges facing the police in the 21st century, how best to develop the work force of the police and equip it, to cut crime and increase public confidence as well as considering governance and accountability and the management of resources in difficult economic times.
