    Abstract

The University of Wales, Newport undertook an evaluation of the introduction of the Integrated Family Support Team (IFST). The IFST is a new approach to working with families at an early stage, before children become at risk of entry in to care. It has a core of five multi-disciplinary professionals including those from social work, nursing and health visiting - at least one must be a Consultant Social Worker. This report focuses attention on interviews with the newly formed IFST practitioners in Newport, to assess the perceived strengths and areas for development in the first year of the IFST implementation.
