Abstract
Within the last two decades iron-catalysis has gained considerable traction in the field of hydroboration. Use of iron is an attractive strategy towards more earth-abundant transition metal catalysis. Its ability to occupy a variety of different oxidation states can unlock a world of unique reactivities and enable comparable reaction profiles to its precious metal counterparts. Hydroboration is widely regarded as an important transformation for assessing the catalytic reactivity of newly designed catalyst systems. In this chapter, we will review the current literature for iron-catalysed hydroboration reactions of a range of unsaturated C–C and C–heteroatom bonds.
