Abstract
One of the cornerstones of keeping data and the resulting knowledge alive and available is the ability to exchange and migrate data without loss between various current systems from different vendors, as well as to migrate to newer data standards with minimum effort in the future. This paper provides a short overview of the scientific data standards currently implemented by instrument vendors, and international efforts taking place to generate new standards.
