Abstract

Dinocap is the generic name for a mixture of 2,6-dinitro-4-(1-methylheptyl)-phenylcrotonate, 2,4-dinitro-6-(1-methylheptyl)-phenylcrotonate and some other alkyl substituted isomers [1]. The mixture is applied as a non-specific acaricide and contact fungicide, recommended for the control of all kinds of mildew on fruit, vegetables, potatoes, tobacco and seeds and is used all over the world. Studies were carried out into the identification of this pesticide and its by-products using infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry following chromatographic separation
