Abstract

Motivation is a keystone of human behaviour. In simplest terms, without motivation we would not do anything - nothing at all. To labour the point, without motivation, when we wake in the morning, we wouldn’t swing our legs out from under the duvet onto the cold bedroom floor. We wouldn’t get dressed, eat our breakfast, leave our house, or take part in our sport. Literally everything we do is driven by a specific motive, or a wider motivation and it is fundamental to what makes us human and is most likely to some extent embedded in our DNA
