Abstract

The invention includes methods, apparatus, and systems for the conversion of hydrogen together with carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide to methane using a population of microbes and a defined liquid medium. The microbial population maintains the amount of nutrients in the liquid medium with a relative range without requiring replenishment of the nutrients. Methods and apparatus for enriching the microbial population are also described.
