Abstract

Internet Protocol (IP) TV delivers interactive personalized video content to a television through an IP connection. The standard IPTV connections provide Live TV streams and Video on Demand services. However both users and service providers are constantly fuelled by the need for newer services and applications. Service Providers will benefit from the revenue shares generated through service provision while end users will be exposed to a new set of services which will leverage their viewing experience. This paper describes a service delivery platform on both the client and the server side which allows developers to quickly develop services through the use of APIs and allows service providers to deploy services and deliver to the end users. This paper also describes a novel set top box that provides features based on open standards, leveraging the end user's viewing and interactive television experience.
