Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This publication marks 25 years of European Union youth policy and practice. it considers the rising prominence and profile of the youth sector, characterised by youth work and youth autonomy and participation and the increasing emphasis on the need to recognise the complementarity of non-formal education and learning with schooling and higher education.
The chapter is concerned with the developing approaches to youth participation within the EU and how this should be broadened in the future, strengthening the voice of a greater diversity of young people but possibly challenging the democratic foundations of youth participation.
