Abstract
This book comprises a selection of writings on female migration, featuring studies from early modern Europe, modern America and twentieth century Europe. This is a not a comprehensive history of migrating women but a series of studies highlighting key moments and themes in the history of migration. The focus is on women because the majority of refugees are women, and, certainly in the modern period, women developed significant roles as carers and administrators in refugee crises.
