Abstract
Within the broad context of the never-ending IT development or, better, IT revolution, a new overwhelming challenge in the transportation area is represented by autonomous, or automatic, vehicles. Although this technology may engender multifarious issues with ensuing scholarly debate, this research paper is focused exclusively on self-driving cars from an insurance law perspective. More specifically, the topic under the spot-light in this paper is the way privacy in this new area can be managed, therefore what is define trolley problem. Ultimately, the research question is whether, as a result of mass activations of these new cars, the traditional policy regime will change too. All of these issues are dealt with and discussed in-dept via the legal analysis of the very recent Joint Report of the Law Commissions in England/Wales and Scotland.
