Abstract
The paintings on the medieval canopy of honour over the altar at Llanelian-yn-Rhos (Denbs) can be identified as the early life cycle of the Virgin Mary. This article explores late medieval devotion to Mary and places the paintings on the canopy of honour in the context of other medieval panel painting in the church and region
