Abstract

GNU Modula-2 version 1.0 was released on 2010-12-10 and it was pre-announced during a lightening talk given at the GCC Summit 2010 . GNU Modula-2 is a front end for the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC ). GNU Modula-2 is complete and implements PIM2 , PIM3 , PIM4 and ISO language dialects. Also implemented are a complete set of free ISO libraries and PIM libraries (47718 lines of code). The front end is approximately 250,000 lines of code and is grafted onto the GNU Free Software foundation's C compiler gcc-4.1.2 (6,100,000 lines of code). GNU Modula-2 can be built as a native compiler or as a cross compiler. It has 10,100 regression tests and has been built for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Solaris, OSX natively under x86_64, x86_32 and sparc microprocessors. It has also been built as a cross compiler for the Atmel AVR series of microprocessors.
