    Abstract

Arising from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Wales study 2007, the paper explores whether the vertical and horizontal occupational segregation and concentration that confront women in the wider labour market are replicated in entrepreneurship. The paper sheds light upon the parallels between entrepreneurship and the wider labour market. As a result it is suggested that women and their advisers need to be aware of the potential limitations of locating their businesses within sectors traditionally associated with women's employment.
