Abstract

The process, planning and principles of discharging children from one area of care to another, or transferring within hospitals, or transitioning children to adult services is explored within this chapter.

The idea of simple and complex discharges, of transfer and transition are examined with the aid of case studies, practitioner stories, reflection, knowledge sharing, going further opportunities linked to a web-site, and theory stop points are some of the pedagogical methods of engaging student nurses with the content and ideas.
