Abstract

This work presents the design and implementation steps for a novel molecular diagnostics platform based around LAMP technique with improved portability, affordability, and accuracy. Although LAMP costs can be significantly lower than PCR, it does suffer from a higher false positive rate. Achieving comparable specificity and sensitivity would contribute a step closer toward the democratization of molecular diagnostics for wide range of viral and bacterial pathogens. The proposed platform is portable and low cost and features a novel classification algorithm to improve sensitivity and specificity. Preliminary results show accurate detection of a range of bacterial species in urine samples.
