    Abstract

The purpose of the research project reported upon here was to gain some understanding of public perceptions and understandings of sex offending against children in Wales at the time of the launch of the 'Stop it Now!' campaign. In this way it was hoped to establish a 'baseline' of existing adult knowledge of and attitudes towards a range of issues concerning the sexual abuse of children in Wales. Further research at some point after the campaign may then be able to consider if the campaign has had the desired impact in increasing levels of knowledge and awareness. The Lucy Faithfull Foundation conducted its own online survey into public attitudes prior to the commencement of this research and before the launch of the campaign.
