Abstract
La social security di Oltremanica è analizzata in alcuni aspetti fondamentali, nel presente contributo. Si mette in luce come, sebbene manchi un diritto della previdenza sociale, vi è comunque un’ampia area del diritto del lavoro in cui l’attore principale della social security, il Minister of Pensions, ha svolto un’attività che ha inciso anche sulla definizione delle principali categorie lavoristiche, fra cui il concetto di employee.
The British social security is discussed and analysed within this contribution from the perspective of of its fundamental principles. In detail, it is highlighted how the UK, albeit missing a law of social security, as an autonomous research area, does enjoy a subarea of labour law. Within this, the Minister of Pensions has been playing for a long time a role which has impacted greatly on the main legal concepts existing in the British legislation of law, first and foremost the characterization of individuals as employees.
