Abstract
This paper offers a discussion of a small scale audit of the parent therapist service‟s
“family therapy” provision as one intervention in the range of options open to the
clientele of this service. The parent therapist provision is the only such service in the 3rd
sector providing services to both adults & families but placed within a children's service
context.
The audit took place in May 2011 and involved a telephone survey of clients who used
the services of a therapist over the previous year (June 2010- May 2011). The audit
involved 20% (n10) of the service users who used the therapy offered within this
timeframe. The audit suggests high level satisfaction with the services offered and
provides a platform for further investigation of the appropriateness and effectiveness of
the parent therapist service.
