Project Details

Description

A research team is investigating the barriers women face in advancing into and through leadership roles across various industries, aligning with SDG 5: Gender Equality. Their work explores psychological, organisational and cultural challenges, such as biases, policy gaps, and workplace practices that reinforce inequality.

Collaborating with industry partners, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the team examines how these barriers limit women's career progression and identifies strategies to overcome them. By highlighting these challenges, the research aims to influence organisational practices and policy changes, fostering a more equitable leadership landscape.

Supported in part by funders such as Cardiff Capital Region’s Civic Activity Fund and with donations from CBI member organisations, this project contributes to broader efforts to promote fair representation, inclusive workplace cultures, and systemic change in leadership. Through evidence-based insights, the research advocates for policies that create sustainable pathways for women to thrive in leadership roles.
