Project Details

Description

A researcher is working with local business to enhance sustainability, stock management, and resale processes, aligning with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Their research investigates business challenges and innovations that support circular fashion models.

Funded by Cardiff Capital Region’s Academic Industry Partnership Fund, the project has facilitated practical improvements in inventory tracking, structured stock processing, and targeted stock acquisition. By refining how second-hand businesses handle donations and resale stock, these enhancements have reduced waste, improved turnaround times, and maximised product value.

Additionally, businesses have adapted their resale strategies to better match items with the most effective platforms, while sewing and upcycling initiatives have strengthened community engagement. These refinements demonstrate scalable approaches to sustainability in second-hand fashion, offering insights into how businesses can optimise operations while supporting circular economy principles.
