Project Details
Description
This research is an evaluation of the Swansea Neath Port Talbot 360 project. This is a multi-agency partnership, including occupational therapy, which supports people with the most complex needs, including those being released from custody, to reduce the risk of homelessness. People previously in prison may have complex needs such as substance dependence, chronic illness, learning disabilities and previous trauma and mental health concerns (Page, 2017; GOV.UK, 2021; Kosc and Kirk, 2024).
We are committed to developing a trauma informed approach to this evaluation and have been developing innovative and accessible methods assess. As well as engaging with peer researchers to facilitate interviews we are developing, through a series of workshops, a simulation to examine the impact of 360 on decision-making. Combined with standard interviews and an online survey, these methods are assessing the implementation and delivery of the project and its interventions (process evaluation) and the impact on users (outcome evaluation).
“One of the driving principles of the Swansea NPT 360 Project is to provide trauma informed, compassionate support. USW have kept compassion at the heart of their methodologies and have found innovative ways to monitor our project without burdening our beneficiaries. This partnership has also presented us an exciting opportunity to use cutting edge technology, which has never been used within homelessness services, to evaluate the effectiveness of our project. We’re thrilled to be part of a movement paving the way for new, better, research practices in our sector.” (360 staff)
