Embedding Research and Enquiry in Schools (EREiS)

Project Details

Description

The EREiS project aims to help Welsh schools make better use of existing educational research. Educational research is often written or disseminated in ways that teachers find difficult to make rapid and easy use of, and there can, therefore, be something of a disconnect between the rationales that underpin practice in schools, and the wider research evidence base that surrounds such practices.

EREiS is a collaborative research project, involving seven HEIs in Wales, that is attempting to find ways to bring teachers closer to the research base. A variety of mechanisms (for example, workshops, explanatory frameworks, research summaries) have been co-constructed and trialled in schools over the period across Wales. Data concerning their perceived utility value and effectiveness have been collected and analysed. The final product for the project will be a portfolio of case studies and resources for schools to use.
