Project Details
Description
This project will explore the feasibility of integrating water from reed bed treatment facilities with electrolysis technologies to produce hydrogen for transport and gas grid applications. Surplus heat from electrolysis will be used to drive the water purification process, while any surplus heat generated may contribute to balanced heating and cooling networks.
USW will lead on hydrogen integration and project management, collaborating with Caerphilly County Borough Council and Challoch Energy Ltd. The findings could pave the way for similar applications at other wastewater treatment sites, contributing to future funding opportunities and advancing the UK’s hydrogen economy.
