Bio-Electrochemical Process Engineering for Carbon Reduction and Resource Recovery: E-Hance

Project Details

Description

The aim of this project is to further the understanding of microbial bioelectrochemical systems (BES) to facilitate their implementation in a range of industries. The bioelectrochemical system technology will be developed as a simultaneous pollution abatement technology with resource recovery for sewage treatment, for metal recovery, and for carbon capture and conversion to sustainable chemical feedstocks to support chemical industry. This will not only provide manufacturing and export opportunities for an emerging biotechnology but also reduce the water pollution and carbon emission of several UK based foundation industries.
