Research interests

In addition to my Senior Lecturer role I am also a part-time PhD student and my research is focused on exploring the most effective methods for capturing the nuances of Autistic children's play in educational settings within the South Wales region, utilising an ethnographic, case study approach.

The significance of this research lies in the current discourse prevalent in the literature and the field of education, which often portrays Autistic children as requiring play intervention of some kind. As an Autistic researcher, I am contributing to a growing field of enquiry from an authentic Autistic perspective.

By utilising this approach, I hope to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the complexities and nuances of Autistic children's play, thereby highlighting the importance of embracing a neurodiversity-affirmative approach to observation in educational settings.
