Research interests

Overview of research interests: Sustainable development and global citizenship/social justice, particularly in relation to community cohesion, tolerance and ethnocultural empathy, including curriculum and policy development. The use of artifical intelligence to support mental health in conservative communities. 

Experience: Lecturer in Public Service Management and Course Leader for Sociology at the University of South Wales. Member of the Centre for Social Policy. Currently developing resources and research opportunities for teaching global citizenship/social justice locally and in the United Arab Emirates. Researching  the use of an artificial intelligence chatbot for supporting mental health in conservative communities. Other research examined the impact of Covid 19 on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Families and Communities for the Co-POWeR project (led by the University of Leeds). Previous research-based activities include evaluation lead for a university tender for a third sector organisation (the Family Skills Project), and scoping research for a MOOC and diversity training programme. Consultant on research and evaluation, for example the production of a joint research report on greening university campuses for the British Council in Algeria which was shared at COP26. Co-CEO of Sustainability Sphere, which develops educational resources and training based on the United Nations’ 17 goals for sustainable development. Children’s book author.
