Dr Uttam Kumar Das, from West Bengal, India, is a researcher in organometallics and inorganic chemistry. His research interests are small molecule activation, sustainable homogeneous catalysis, and organometallic chemistry. He is currently engaged in the development of new catalytic system for the conversion of CO2 into CH3OH and other value-added pharmaceutical chemicals with Dr Gareth R Owen at USW.
Dr Das completed his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in organometallics and catalysis. He was a SERB-DST overseas postdoctoral fellow at Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel with Prof David Milstein. Where his research focused on sustainable hydrogenation/dehydrogenation reactions using earth-abundant metal pincer catalyst. He was an assistant professor of chemistry at Lovely Professional University, Punjab, India.
