Tony started his sporting career as an apprentice and professional footballer at Cardiff City between 1999 and 2003. Following this, he worked in a dual position for the Football Association of Wales Trust and Caerphilly County Borough Council as the Local Authority Football Development Officer between 2004-2007. This lead to a more generic sports development role when Tony became the first Competitions Organiser Officer in Wales. This evolved to leading a sub-team within a it's community activity networks structure before stepping into a wider leadership position responsible for the strategic and operational direction of the Sport Development department. 

Alongside this role, Tony lead sport development related modules within FE at Ystrad Myncah College between 2013-2015. 

Whilst continuing to work and teach within the industry, Tony enrolled in a post-graduate degree at Cardiff Met, studying an MA in Sports Management & Leadership, which he completd in 2015. He was then recruited as a lecturer in Football Coaching & Performance at The University of South Wales in 2016, where he progressed to a senior lecturer in 2018 and took on course leader responsibility for the then newly validated BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching & Development degree. Between March and September 2022, Tony briefly served as Head of Sport for on-campus provision on an interim basis.

In summary, Tony has worked and taught across a variety of sports industry environemnts and levels in a career that currently spans more than two decades.
