Research interests

Dr Sioned Owen specialises in biochemistry and pharmacology. Her research focuses on breast, prostate and lung cancers with a particular on the molecular changes which facilitate their metastatic spread.

Identification of factors and moelcular changes enable testing of current therapeutic drugs and potential for novel targeted therapies using cell-based models.

Teaching interests

I am the biochemistry and pharmacology lecturer at USW, teaching basic biochemical principles which are then integrated in to cellular pathologies. 

This knowledge is linked to the fundamental concepts of pharmacology and enable students to establish a link between the cellular pathologies and therapeutic intervention mechanism of actions.
