Research interests

With a particular interest in human-computer interaction, my PhD project involved designing, creating and using an online research tool to support research into presentation style and visual design of online questionnaires.  The outcome of my PhD work was threefold.  First, the contribution of the novel tool for researchers interested in the design parameters for online questionnaires.  Second, by using the tool to establish and quantify the effects of design parameters on interaction outcomes in online psychometrics, a comprehensive understanding of psychometric measurement in human-computer interaction in terms of completion time, perceived enjoyment and workload was formulated.  Finally, design guidance was derived to aid the design of online psychometric questionnaires in particular.

My Phd project has been extended and applied in the field of education with the successful completion of the research project being partially funded by the Kuwait Foundation of Advancement of Sciences.  The main aim of this research was to determine the effect of design parameters on students' test outcomes, completion time and workload.
