Research interests
As an ex-biologist and having worked as a developer in the manufacturing sector I am interested in systems as 'my default' setting. I started a PhD, some years ago but had to pause research activities. The PhD was to investigate the feasibility of some of the systems used to manage production and feedback from the ‘shop floor’ utilising the digital environment, but within the University setting. After a long pause, I am looking to re-engage and refine my Doctoral studies.
I am currently writing a paper on the Digital Competency Framework. My aim is to critically appraise this framework with the question of relevance and applicability to IT education. The Digital Competency Framework has already been ‘rolled out’ in Wales and we have to ask whether the DCF is fit for purpose.
