Research interests

Dr Mike Chick is a teacher educator and researcher and is also the University’s Refugee Champion.

His research interests surround language education for people seeking sanctuary in Wales and he has recently completed a commissioned review of the Welsh Government’s migrant language education policy.

He is currently researching the role of minority language education in creating a sense of belonging and inclusion amongst forced migrants in Wales. He was appointed Professor of ESOL in June 2024
