Lens based media have been at the heart of my practice for twenty years. During that time I have utilised the photographic medium to investigate and communicate a number of experiential ideas.
In my practice, I devise working processes that explore how personal and moral conflicts are sited within a wider socio-political landscape. Past projects or experiments have included: an attempt to identify the first tulip species to be colonised by the Ottoman Sultans; a journey to the mid-point between right and wrong; a re-creation of the state of mind of a French composer as well as experimenting with hypnosis to investigate weightlessness and past lives. My most recent project involves collecting data from the process of inhabiting the persona of a professional actor. The work that has resulted from this research methodology he’s been shown work in galleries both in the UK and abroad including, Spike Island, Bristol; EFA Project Space, New York; SMART Project Space, Amsterdam; Bergen Kunsthall, Nprway; Focal Point Gallery, Essex; Total Kunst Gallery, Edinburgh; Unit 2 Gallery, London.
An undergraduate degree in Fine Art (Intermedia) was followed by an MA in Fine Art from the University of Wales, Cardiff. I have been a University lecturer since 1995 and over that time have taught at various levels from BTEC to MA at a number of institutions including, Kingston University, Chelsea School of Art, Oxford Brookes University and the University of the West of England. I am also Programme Leader for the Moving Image at the Open College of the Arts.
My work as an educator extends from a genuine interest in the ever shifting language that surrounds the creation, manipulation and dissemination of the photographic image. I very much enjoy the dialogue between my students, their work and the context that it inhabits towards the furthering of our collective knowledge. I am also Programme Leader for the Moving Image course at the Open College of the Arts.

My current research centres around the connection of people to places and the way in which individuals construct and perform their own identity within specific social contexts.
I am currently working as artist in residence based in Newtown, Ebbw Vale. This project as part Arts & Minds, a wider investigation into the ways in which contemporary art can be incorporated into the community regeneration process with the Tai Calon Housing Association.
