Experience
Lyn graduated from the University of Wales Newport, with a First class honours degree in Sports Studies. Lyn then progressed to completing a Masters Degree at the University of South Wales in Performance Sports Coaching.
Lyn has over 30 years of experience of working in the sports and education sector. Lyn has taught at secondary school level and also has experience of working within football education, having taught at professional football clubs such as Cardiff City FC and Cheltenham Town FC.
Lyn’s first appointment at the University of South Wales was as a Technical Demonstrator for Sport and Psychology in 2013. Lyn then moved on to a role as Technical Demonstrator in Sport and Exercise Science in 2015. In 2016, Lyn took on his current role as Lecturer in Community Football Development.
Lyn was originally employed as the Course Leader for the highly successful BSc Top Up programme in Community Football Coaching. Lyn is currently year 1 on campus course leader for BSc Football Coaching, Development and Administration.
Lyn also enjoys supporting the delivery of Post Graduate programmes.
In addition to working as a lecturer and course leader, Lyn is both an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Race Equality Champion at USW.
Lyn is also an educational mentor, supporting colleagues new to higher education as they complete the Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.
Lyn holds a PGCE and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Lyn has also:
- Worked extensively in the USA as a soccer coach, coach educator and soccer camp director. This experience was accrued over a 5 year period between 2000 – 2005.
- Been employed by the Japanese Government as part of the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) programme. This role involved both teaching English as an addition language and community sport delivery and event management.
- Worked with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) as a coach educator and mentor.
- Coached at organisations such as Cardiff City FC Academy and Foundation, Manchester United Soccer Schools and at grassroots level, Merthyr Town FC Academy.

Co supervision of MRes project examining the Psychological, Social and Physical Benefits of Walking Football in Former South Wales Coalfield Areas.
The research project was part-funded by the Welsh Government’s European Social Fund (ESF) as a Knowledge Exchange Skills Scholarship (KESS2) and completed in partnership with the Coalfield Regeneration Trust.
