Dr Harbidge came to the then University of Glamorgan in 2006 after gaining an Undergraduate Degree and PhD in the English Department at the University of Aberdeen where she was Teaching Fellow and, latterly, Undergraduate Co-ordinator in Film Studies. She has also worked as a Cinema Education Officer.
Responsibilities
Dr Harbidge is Course Leader in Cinema and Film Studies, having overall academic and pastoral responsibility for students undertaking the BA Film Studies.
External
Dr Harbidge has been External Examiner for Film & Television Production degrees at York St. John, and is currently External Examiner for Media at Study Group, Lincoln University and for the BA Digital Film at Brighton University.
Consultancy
Dr Harbidge has undertaken consultancy work for TV channels UKTV and DAVE (on laughter) and Paramount (on accents in comedy).
Research
Research interests:
Her broad research interests lie in contemporary American Cinema, British and American Television, and Stand-up Comedy. She is particularly interested in the tradition of Comedian Comedy, Audiences and Laughter. Research proposals are invited in any area of New Hollywood or screen comedy. Proposals in stand-up comedy are particularly welcome.
