Prior to that, she was a regular contributor on a range of journalism and media courses for a decade. She has been a course leader for a range of courses, including BA Radio, Media Production and Sports Journalism and MA Multiplatform Radio and Visual Journalism.
She remains active as a broadcast producer across audio and video and a consultant and mentor in the industry.
After graduating, Julie began her career as an indentured trainee reporter for Northcliffe Newspapers, became a general reporter, then specialised in Arts & Features, before moving to work for ITV as a reporter/producer. She was also one of the facilitators of the BBC’s Safeguarding Trust & compliance training. Her last role at BBC Wales was that of Acting Editor, Radio Wales.
During her first year as a full-time member of Atrium teaching staff, Julie won a departmental & university-wide Excellence in Learning, Teaching & Assessment award & has since won a further award for personal development & student employability. She is a member of the Higher Education Academy.
