Teaching and Research Interests
Presently, I lead three (3) modules on the MSc Public Health programme. I cover various teaching sessions at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across Nursing and Public Health. I actively engage with relevant, contemporary, innovative, and evidence-based teaching approaches towards enhancing teaching and learning for students by creating a conducive and challenging learning environment equipping students for real-world public health challenges. My teaching covers epidemiology, leadership and leading change in public health, health economics and research methods. My teaching is also actively informed by my research and scholarly activities.
My research interest covers non-communicable diseases (NCDs) primarily the psychosocial aspects of complications associated with diabetes such as amputations, rehabilitation, health systems, and disability studies with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). My research interest also extends to studies into the health and well-being of International Students as a predominant part of many of my teaching cohorts. Methodologically, I engage qualitative, quantitative or both approaches to research and undertake systematic reviews.
I am accredited as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health (FRSPH).
